BETT 2025 Highlights – A Personal Reflection on the Future of Education

22nd to 24th January 2025 at ExCeL, London

Sesh at BETT 2025

The BETT show 2025 was nothing short of extraordinary. Over the course of three days, I had the privilege of immersing myself in one of the world’s largest education technology (EdTech) events. This annual event brings together educators, policymakers, technologists, and thought leaders from around the globe to explore how education is evolving and how technology is shaping its future.

In this article, I’ll share my key takeaways from the event, explore the challenges and opportunities EdTech presents for India, and extend a heartfelt recommendation for anyone in the education space to mark their calendars for BETT 2026.

The Magnitude of BETT 2025

The scale of BETT 2025 was impressive, as always. Over 35,000 members of the global education community converged at ExCeL, London, creating a buzzing environment of collaboration, innovation, and discovery.

Here are some quick stats that reflect the scale of the event:

  • 600+ exhibitors showcased the latest advancements in EdTech, ranging from interactive learning tools to AI-driven classroom management systems.
  • 400+ world-class speakers, including industry leaders and educators, led thought-provoking discussions.
  • 3,000 students participated, experiencing first-hand the possibilities that technology can bring to the classroom.

Themes That Shaped the Event

As I explored the aisles and attended sessions, three overarching themes resonated throughout the event:

1. The Changing Role of Educators in a Post-COVID World

The global education system is undergoing a significant transformation, accelerated by the pandemic. One critical issue discussed was the shortage of teachers—a challenge limited to not one country but affecting education systems worldwide.

In India, the challenge is not only the shortage of teachers but also the availability of quality educators. EdTech presents an opportunity to bridge this gap by:

  • reducing the administrative burden on teachers,
  • enabling teachers to focus more on teaching and mentoring, and
  • providing tools to enhance teachers' effectiveness in the classroom

2. The Role of EdTech in India – Moving Beyond Print

India remains a print-driven market, and while some schools are open to a hybrid model, the adoption of EdTech is still in its early stages. As I walked through BETT, I couldn’t help but think, "Why can’t classrooms in India benefit from this incredible wealth of technology?"

Key areas where India can leverage EdTech:

  • Digital tools that support classroom interaction alongside traditional printed materials.
  • Training for teachers to help them seamlessly integrate technology into their teaching methods.
  • A shift towards measurable outcomes through data-driven assessments instead of relying on subjective perceptions.

3. Fostering Holistic Education

BETT 2025 didn’t just focus on technology; it also emphasized the importance of holistic education. Some of the most engaging sessions I attended included topics like:

  • Making AI Work for Schools: Exploring how artificial intelligence can personalize learning experiences and save teachers' valuable time;
  • Incorporating Digital Skills: Practical strategies to make classrooms more engaging and interactive for students; and
  • Mental Health of Students: Addressing the emotional well-being of students, which is increasingly critical in today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world.

Aspirations for India – Lessons from BETT 2025

One of the most exciting aspects of attending BETT is the inspiration it sparks. As I interacted with educators and EdTech providers from around the world, I couldn’t help but envision how India could benefit from adopting these innovations.

India’s education system is at a crossroads. With over 260 million students, it is one of the largest systems globally, yet it struggles with:

  • Teacher shortages
  • Outdated teaching methods
  • Limited integration of technology in classrooms

Here’s what India can learn from the BETT show:

  • Use EdTech to Save Teachers’ Time: Teachers in India often face overwhelming workloads, leaving little time for personalized teaching. Technology can help automate administrative tasks and free up time for teaching.
  • Focus on Teacher Training: Technology is only as effective as the person using it. Comprehensive training programs for teachers can ensure that EdTech tools are utilized to their full potential.
  • Evolve Assessment Methods: It’s time to move beyond traditional exams and explore scientific, data-driven assessments that provide a clearer picture of student learning outcomes.

Why Should You Attend BETT 2026?

For those who have never experienced the BETT show, I strongly encourage you to plan a visit to BETT 2026, scheduled for 21st to 26th January 2026, at the same venue in London.

Here’s why it’s worth your time:

  1. Unparalleled Networking: Connect with global educators, policymakers, and innovators. BETT is an opportunity to form partnerships and exchange ideas.
  2. Access to Cutting-Edge Technology: Explore the latest advancements in EdTech and find tools that can transform your institution or classroom.
  3. Inspiration for Change: Whether you are a school leader, teacher, or policymaker, BETT will inspire you to think differently about education.

A Call to Action – Let’s Bring BETT to India!

As someone deeply invested in the future of education in India, I left BETT 2025 with a sense of purpose. The question is no longer, "Should India embrace EdTech?" but rather, "How can we do it effectively and equitably?"

I am eager to collaborate with educators, schools, and policymakers to bring the best of what BETT offers to Indian classrooms. If you are interested in learning more about my experience or how we can work together to revolutionize education in India, feel free to reach out.

Final Thoughts

BETT 2025 was more than just an event; it was a reminder of the boundless possibilities that arise when innovation meets education. The conversations I had, the technologies I saw, and the ideas I encountered left me inspired and hopeful for the future of learning—not just globally, but for India as well.

So, as I look ahead, I would encourage you to join the journey. Together, we can shape the future of education.
